6 places in India to soon start seaplane and helicopter services

Soon, six water aerodrome sites across the country in all likelihood will be introducing helicopter and seaplane facilities. This piece of information will definitely give wings to your dreams, i.e., flying on helicopters and seaplanes.

Recently, Minister of State for Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan, while responding to a query in Lok Sabha, stated that there are plans of setting up as many as six water aerodrome sites across the country to provide helicopter and seaplane services to people. As per the latest news reports, sites that will be included in this project are Sabarmati river fronts, Statue of Unity in Gujarat, Nagarjuna Sagar, Umrangso Reservoir, Shatrunjay Dam, and Guwahati in Assam.
The said plan will be implemented under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme. The minister also mentioned that under the regional connectivity scheme, six water aerodrome sites have been awarded to start helicopter as well as seaplane services.
As per the latest news reports, the Shipping and Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, keen on starting such services in India, has been stressing on the fact that India has the potential to kick-start as many as 10000 seaplanes. The minister also added that the country has around 3 to 4 lakhs ponds, 200 small ports, 2000 river ports, 12 major ports and plenty of dams, which will bring down the cost.
