Dailong Biodiversity Heritage Site, Tamenglong
One of the most biodiverse regions in the state, Dailong was declared a Biodiversity Heritage Site on May 23, 2017. The Longku forest in Dailong is home to the rare and endemic species of the Indian wild orange, which is believed to be the parent species of all citrus species in the world
Shirui Hill, Ukhrul
When in season (May to June), hike up to the top of the hill to see Sirui Lily, one of the rarest flowers in the world. The plant is endemic to the region and they don’t do so well outside their original home.
Loktak Lake, Imphal
The lake is most famous for the floating biomass called phumdis. These floating biomasses are as dense as the solid ground. Loktak Lake is one of the most stunning locations in India.
Keibul Lamjao National Park, Imphal
Located on the Loktak Lake, Keibul Lamjao National Park is the only floating national park in the world. Keibul Lamjao is home to the endangered Sangai deer or the dancing deer.
Khangkhui Mangsor Caves, Ukhrul
This pre-historic limestone cave has some of the most unique formations of stalactites and stalagmites. Do not enter the cave without a guide.
Dzukou Valley, Senapati
Dzukou Valley straddles Nagaland and Manipur, and the Manipur side of this stunning valley falls in Senapati district. Go trekking!
Tharon Cave, Tamenglong
Tharon cave is a series of 12 caves beyond the entrance. Not a lot is known about the cave so going solo is not advised. When visiting the site, make sure to go with a local guide.
Buning, Tamenglong
If you liked Dzukou Valley, you will also like Buning Meadow. Located in Tamenglong district, this meadow is surrounded by lush forests and is one the best places to go camping and trekking.
