No visit to Sydney is complete without snatching a bird’s eye view of this picturesque metropolis from the top of Sydney’s tallest building, the Sydney Tower. It has been an integral part of the city’s skyline for more than 30 years. Measuring 309 m at its highest point, it is one of the tallest structures in the Southern hemisphere. The observation deck at 250 m above street level is known as Sydney Tower Eye, and offers sweeping views as far as the eyes can see. High powered binoculars are there as well, while multi-lingual touch screens provide array of facts about Sydney. The tower’s entrance is from the Pitt Street Mall through Westfield, a large shopping conclave. The towering experience begins with the viewing of a unique film through 4D cinema, which unfolds a whole new dimension of the cityscape, portraying spectacular footage of the beaches, harbours, and surrounding landmarks. The 4th dimension of the experience comes through evocative in-theatre effects like wind, water, and fire. An adrenalin pumping thing to do here is the Skywalk, which is a 45 minute guided walking tour at 268 m through a glass floor viewing platform around the outside of the golden turret of Sydney Tower, with the bustling city of Sydney underneath.
