Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of the most renowned national parks in Southeast Europe and it takes around two hours to reach from Zagreb. The park consists of 16 lakes, interconnected by a series of waterfalls, set in deep woodlands. The park is spread across 300 sq km and is home to rich flora and fauna, including deer, bears, wolves and exotic varieties of birds. The park is spread across 300 sq km and is home to rich flora and fauna, including deer, bears, wolves and exotic varieties of birds. The beauty of the park is the series of cascades and waterfalls creating stunning vibrant lakes. The colourful lakes can be accessed by the 18 km of wooden footbridges and pathways that snake around the edges of the lakes. The circuit starts from the upper lake and ends at Veliki Slap, the tallest waterfall in Croatia. Protected under the UNESCO World Heritage, the Plitvice Lakes National Park is Croatia’s most popular tourist attraction. No trip to Croatia can be complete without travelling to this stunning natural wonder. Get lost in the wilderness and explore the park on foot or by a bus and a boat.
