Sikkim Tourism—Temi Tea Estate gets an eco-adventure resort

Sikkim Tourism has taken another big step towards eco-tourism. The famed Bada Bungalow of Sikkim, located at the popular Temi Tea Estate, is now transformed into an Eco Adventure Resort. It will be unveiled on September 11, 2019, in the presence of BS Pant, Tourism Minister, Sikkim, and Mrinalini Srivastava, Director, Temi Tea Estate.
The development project is called the first Public-Private Partnership of the Sikkim Government. The Eco Adventure Resort, Bada Bungalow, has five rooms, seven cottages, a view desk, as well as casino lounge. However, the Bada Bungalow has now been renamed as Temi Bungalow. This year marks 50 years since the 12th Chogyal Palden Thondup Namgyal, and his wife Queen Gyalmo Hope Cooke visited the estate, in September 1970. At that time, they had planted two bushes on the premises.


The Temi Tea Estate was established by the King of Sikkim and was a mode of employment for Tibetan refugees in Sikkim. The tea estate would now be one of the prime attractions for tourists from across the world, given the world-class facilities that it has now. Moreover, the place is known to be a hotspot for Cherry blossom, bound to attract numerous tourists in the time to come.
The Temi area already boasts of some fine facilities available for tourists, such as paragliding, and hiking, etc. The authorities are also looking to bring in mountain biking and are currently analysing the safety standards for the same. The Temi Bungalow is a luxury getaway; however, the government is developing many more resorts in and around the area for all types of travellers.
