Chanderi celebrates the blend of faith and religions and it has had a huge influence of Jainism. Among many Jain temples, this unique one invites many travellers and pilgrims across the globe. The temple itself is etched on a small hill and the iconic statue of the first Jain Tirthankara Rishabha/Adinath is what makes this temple a hub for all tourists. The statue towers around 45 feet and is engraved on the surface of the hillock. Apart from this massive carving, there are smaller inscriptions and statues of other Tirthankaras lined up across both sides of the hill. The two sects of Jains are split across the hilltop with each on one side but circling back to the massive status of Adinath. There are around six caves on the hill and some of the inscriptions in the caves reveal that these temples are over 700 years old.
The structure has been through the test of time and the molasses and dark stains are testimony of that. The hills are also known to be a part of the Vindhyachal mountain range. The best time to visit this spot would be just before sunset. The hillock is a perfect location that will offer tranquillity as the sun sets down on the old town of Chanderi.
