Osaka Science Museum and National Museum of Art

Located on the island of Nakanoshima, the Osaka Science Museum is an impressive structure that gives visitors an understanding of electricity, energy, and the composition of the universe. While it essentially caters to children, the frequent ‘Science Shows’ are equally loved by adults. The museum also has a planetarium along with the ‘Omnimax,’ which is basically an IMAX Theatre and you would have to pay extra for the films screened here. Osaka Science Museum is a 5 minute walk from the Nakanoshima Station along the Keihan Nakanoshima Line and is open from 9:30 am till 5 pm. The entrance fee is 400 Yen, and does not include Omnimax and the planetarium.
The National Museum of Art is located adjacent to the Osaka Science Museum and is an extremely futuristic looking establishment that plays host to celebrated contemporary art. With two underground floors, the exterior is said to emulate the life of a bamboo plant, and comes across as rather baffling and convoluted at first glance. It was built sometime in 2007 and was initially a part of the Expo Museum of Fine Arts. Every person with creative leanings must visit this place in order to explore its many Japanese and foreign exhibits. The National Museum of Art is open from 10 am till 5 pm, and is closed on Mondays. The admission fee is 420 Yen.
