Nusa Lembongan

Bali’s smaller sister, Nusa Lembongan is still rather wild, more relaxed and considered by many to be a slower version of Bali similar to ‘Bali 20 years ago’. Nusa Lembongan is Bali’s most popular nearby island but it’s still a relaxed escape. On Nusa Lembongan, you get real picture postcard beaches with gorgeous aquamarine water, which are even better than the beaches in Bali.
This tropical paradise is only 30 min from the main island of Bali but feels a world away as it is much smaller, sleepier and has fewer hawkers to bother you. Even the traffic won’t disturb the peace and 4 wheelers need permission from the village elders to operate. Although motorcycles are permitted here, most locals walk or cycle around the island.

Nusa Lembongan has a boutique vibe with a nice selection of trendy, upmarket accommodation and dining options on the island. Nusa Lembongan is great for honeymooners as it has a romantic and intimate feel with stunning views and nice resorts. In fact, some tourists choose to skip mainland Bali altogether and base themselves in Nusa Lembongan for their whole holiday as it’s relaxed, beautiful and offers plenty of facilities and things to do.
If you prefer a more active island break, there is plenty to do here including some best snorkelling and diving around Bali and also surfing, paddle boarding and exploring the mangrove rainforest on small local boats.

How to reach and where to stay
Nusa Lembongan is easily accessible from Sanur Beach or Benoa Harbour, the tourist fast boats take only 30 min or you can also take a local slow boat which takes around 90 min. There is also a suspension bridge over the neighbouring island of Nusa Ceningan and local boats go to the island of Nusa Penida.
