Monsoon magic in Kerala seems to have arrived earlier than it was predicted, as India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed that southwest monsoon hit Kerala on Tuesday. Monsoon in India start from the state of Kerala, and the official date for its arrival is generally set at June. The monsoon then continues for four months travelling all across the country.The IMD has also mentioned that monsoon this year would be a normal, with normal rainfall all over the country.
Needless to say that Kerala is one of the most coveted destinations to experience monsoon in the country, and this year that opportunity has knocked before time. The state of Kerala usually experiences two types of rains in the monsoon season, the Southwest Monsoon, and the Northeast Monsoon. Currently, the state is experiencing Southwest Monsoon, which is also known as Edavappathy. The Northeast monsoon on the other hand is known as Thulavarasham, and starts mid October.
