Nigambodh ghat, Delhi

Nigambodh Ghat is the most ancient river bank in Delhi which serves as a connecting link between the dwellers in Delhi and the Yamuna River. It is located at the backside of the Red Fort and can be accessed via the Kashmiri Gate metro rail on the Violet Line.
This ghat finds mention in ancient manuscripts like the Padma Purana and Mahabharata. It is believed that the truthful king of Indraprastha, Yudhisthira, was the force behind the construction of this ghat. Today, it not only a platform for budding and skilled photographers, bird watchers and casual city dwellers, but a part of the ghat serves as a ground for performing the last rites of a dead body. Visitors also opt to go for a boat ride to explore the calm Yamuna and its surrounding sights.
