Nicoya Peninsula

If you are the one who loves the journey as much as the destination, visiting the Nicoya peninsula is highly recommended for you. To head to the northeast peninsula of Costa Rica, you will have to reach the coast of Guanacaste in a bus or a self-driven vehicle. From here, take a jetty that will fetch your car as well across the Gulf of Nicoya. At Nicoya you will find the dedicated party animals of Costa Rica. Built and kept intact in the old colonial style, the black sand beaches give a Goth feel to the sunsets. Nicoya is dotted with waterfalls and streams. The beaches of this region Playa Ocotal, Playa Sámara, and the Nosara region are clean, and crazily popular among expats and gap-year students from North America and Europe. Because of its remoteness, the area is less crowded than some of the other beaches of the country like Jaco.
There is another way to reach Nicoya. This requires driving up north and coming back down south, driving along the coast. The roads are in bad shape and it will take much longer. Taking a boat to travel across the gulf is easier, far simpler, more comfortable, and time saving, with better vistas.
