Stonehenge, which is considered to be one of the most mysterious places on the planet, has astonished archaeologists. According to latest reports, archaeologists have now discovered a circle of deep pits that surrounds an ancient settlement in Durrington Walls, near to Stonehenge. The major new discovery could in fact solve the mystery of the Stonehenge.
It has been reported that this newly discovered circle of pits is larger than any comparable prehistoric monument in this region.
According to a statement given by Nick Snashall of the National Trust, it comes to light that the discovery of the new settlement could unlock the story of the Stonehenge, as this could be the place where the builders of the Stoneghenge lived, and feasted.
The archaeologists also mentioned that the pits were placed in a very precise manner, thus revealing how the early British inhabitants used a counting system.
The Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located in Wiltshire, England, and is definitely one of earth’s greatest mysteries.
