Located almost in the centre of Dresden’s old town, Neumarkt is a sprawling open area surrounded by beautiful ancient buildings as well as modern ones. The most important of the buildings is the Freunkirche or Church of Our Lady. The area was almost completely destroyed during World War II and painstakingly rebuilt with a mix of old style and modern buildings. However, in the evenings it becomes a cultural hub with people milling around. You never quite know what you’ll get to see here. Mime and acrobatic performers are sometimes seen but it is more common to see singers and opera students, pianists, violinists and cello players, and many others set up and shop and render open air performances, their voices and music ringing out from amidst the buildings.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
