Nepal Tourism to strengthen its tourism game in 2020 with ‘Visit Nepal Year’

Come 2020, Nepal Tourism is turning their tourism game around and celebrating it as Visit Nepal Year. After facing some recent mishaps, which includes the earthquake of 2015, the Nepal Tourism is looking to reclaim some of its lost glories, and attract as many tourists as possible in the coming year.
Currently, the Tourism Board of Nepal is getting an inbound footfall of 1.2 million visitors, but the tourism board is looking to double this number by December 2020. The ultimate aim of Visit Nepal Year would be to break prevailing stereotypes regarding the nation and transform it once again into a paradise for tourists.


Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO, Nepal Tourism Board, said during a campaign in Delhi that India is an important neighbour when it comes to tourism in Nepal. Being a close neighbour, and the fastest growing outbound travel market, India plays a pivotal role in the growth of tourism in Nepal. Visit Nepal is going to allow visitors to explore Nepal’s culture, people, adventure, and more. Nepal Tourism is ready to host events in Indian cities that share its border with Nepal, such as Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, etc.
To help visitors have a pleasant experience in Nepal, the country has already placed enough facilities, such as the Gautam Buddha International Airport, Lumbini, will be ready for operations in 2020, and new circuits such as Shiv Shakti Parikrama, among others are waiting to be explored. You can also expect events such as Everest Marathon, international mountain biking contest, river rafting contest, etc. The nation will also host conferences on sustainable tourism, world happiness day, and more.
