Nanon

Apart from recent heritage and culture, Chanderi is also home to reminiscences from the stone-age period. A long expedition into the forest will take you to the caves of the prehistoric era. Though cars can take travellers to a certain point but they will have to be on foot to enter the caves.
Some of dangling caves of Nanon or Nanoun have withstood the test of time, but some have crumbled down to the forces of nature. At this location, one can see the chalcolithic paintings that depict family life, hunting, cooking, tribal dances and even of beehives and wild animals. Situated on the banks of River Urvashi, the caves are believed to be 1000 years old. If fortunate, one can even spot crocodiles on the banks of this river. Across the banks, there are burial grounds of human beings from the Mesolithic age. Since the route to the caves is long and through a lonely forest area, it is best to visit this spot with a trusted tour guide. Tour operators can also arrange a drive to the forest area and then take you on a trek towards the caves.
