Mumbai-Delhi Shatabdi Express to look more beautiful than ever

‘Tis the makeover season for popular Indian trains, and so the Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express has been scheduled for a great transformation by March 31st, 2018.
The Western Railway recently declared its plans to refurbish the rakes of Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express. Prior to this, in November 2017, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express and Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani had received an attractive makeover to create new codes in passenger comfort.

The up-gradation of the premium Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express Trains is being carried out under project ‘Swarn.’ As the name implies, the Shatabdi Express coaches have been painted with dirt-resistant polyurethane paint, in addition to having been fitted with retro-reflective destination boards and coach number plates, which would let the passengers spot their coach in the absence of proper light. Also, anti-graffiti coated designer wraps have been used for the interiors, and a new paint coating on wall panels.

The walls of coaches have been embellished with pictures portraying the beauty of Maharashtra and Gujarat. The washrooms, too, have been rendered aesthetically sound.

According to the reports, the Western Railways (WR) has spent money with a liberal hand for the makeover on every rake. Now the railway officials intend to install CCTV cameras across all Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express trains.
