Mount Fløyen

Mount Fløyen, almost 1050 ft above sea level, is the best viewpoint in Bergen, offering a detailed view of cityscape, sea and the fjords surrounding Bergen. I bet that you would linger there to click pictures, sip a hot coffee or spend some moments with yourself silently overlooking such beauty. You can also try to figure out the city’s arrangement from the above, which is a quite unusual activity as everything looks tiny but big enough to recognize. There is also a souvenir store and a restaurant on the top, which is a very enjoyable visit. Don’t miss spotting the statue of Norwegian Troll near the souvenir shop!
There are two ways to reach Mount Fløyen. One is to take the Fløibanen funicular, and another is to hike to the top. The funicular railway, also known as cliff railway, is one of the most famous attractions of Norway. Just imagine a pair of tram-like vehicles going up and down the mountain! Hence, I strongly recommend you to enjoy this rare experience if you can afford to spend 15 USD on two rides, each having duration of eight min. The funicular station is located at a distance of 150 m from Bryggen. If you think your fitness level is a little above average and you also want to get a glimpse of various Norwegian neighborhoods, go for hiking. While stepping up continuously, it takes almost an hour starting from Bergen’s city centre. You can choose to stop at various viewpoints and cafes.
