All waterfalls are spectacular. But the selling point of Montezuma is that you can dive in the pond, go right to the bottom of the waterfall, climb up the rocks and go behind it. So you can see the world through the veil of white gushing water. The rocks are big enough to accommodate you and your group of friends behind. Reaching to Llanos de Cortes is most advisable in a rented car, as the closest the buses drop you is Bagaces, which is roughly 3 km away. From there either you will have to walk or hitchhike. All this is worth the trouble as the white sand beach will unwind you like no other. The Llanos de Cortes Waterfall is often called the one waterfall that as tourists one should visit when in Costa Rica. The 12 m high waterfall looks like a secret private cove. Weekends generally see plenty of foot-fall. But if you go on a weekday, you might just be the only one there that day. This could easily be fit into a daylong affair instead of making it into a weekend drill.
