A massive rock formation in the Indian Ocean is home to a beautiful temple dedicated to the Sea God or Dewa Baruna. The locals also visit the temple to pay tribute to the local seer Dang Hyang Nirartha who is believed to have built this temple in the 16th century. My guide said Tanah Lot means land in the sea, and the rock has been naturally formed by the forces of nature. However, a part of it has broken down and has been replaced. This pristine temple is my personal favourite in Bali and one of the best locations to catch the sunset. It is also one of the seven sea temples worshipped by the locals built along the coastline.
