Breathtaking beauty of the day – located about 2 hours, 37 minutes away from Athens, the volcanic peninsula of Methana is the destination that will sweep you off your feet. The charming town is renowned for its thermal baths, and together with the volcanic landscape it can prove to be one of the weekend trips from Athens. Your first stop should be the Town of Methana, which is the capital, with spectacular waterfront location. Do not forget to visit the Bath of Pausanias, as this is the best known thermal bath location in this part of Greece. Summers find the spring overflowing with hot water, which then enters the sea. The Church of Krasopagania is yet another popular destination, close to Vathy village. The church’s intriguing history is absolutely fabulous. The Village of Kameni Hora is one of the most beautiful villages of the region, with stunning forests of pine trees and olive groves. The place offers a chance for a rather charming hiking experience. Also, of course like much of Greece, there are numerous beaches offering the best of natural vistas, which includes sweeping views of the setting sun.
