Singha is a small village situated in an open valley and enclosed on all sides by tall snow covered peaks and dense forests, at a distance of close to 70 kms from Tuting on the Tuting-Singha trail. The river Niggong flows through this village and the beauty of this village lies in the panoramic views of the Pemashipi group of mountains. The village serves a good base to proceed towards Totapuri and Rhutola which provides good opportunity to witness the beauty of Namche Barwa. The next village after Singha known as Simuling is the last inhabited place in this Pemako zone. The Mishmi tribes are the main inhabitants of this village and a helipad provides the landing zone for army helicopters in case of emergencies. There are dense canopies of a special species of bamboo shrub known as “Pseudostachyum polymorphum” or rather thin-walled bamboo found only in this part of the region. Bamboo is the chief material for all sorts of construction in the village as the carrying cost increases manifold for every material brought from Tuting. Cooking is primarily done with salt and chilly (bhoot jolokia) without the use of any spices. There is a government primary school in Singha and teachers are appointed by the central government to teach the students. Losar is the main festival of all the tribes and is celebrated with great fervor after the harvesting months of November and December.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
