Meet Gacek the cat, who’s a five-star rated tourist attraction in Poland

It feels good to know that during these troubling times, there are some things in life that come for free and are incredibly cute. As they say, not all heroes wear capes, some are four-legged and chonky. This is the tale of Gacek, a much-loved “tourist attraction” of the city of Szczecin in Poland.
When we say much loved, we mean top-rated, nay, five-star rated tourist attraction (on Google). Yes, this big boy is rated higher than many tourist attractions in Poland, and is giving a fierce competition to some of Poland’s famous historical attractions. And we love it!
We hear Gacek has visitors from all over the world just to see him and be royally ignored by him. Of course. Is it even a cat if it doesn’t ignore you?

Some even say that being ignored by the rotund boy is one of the best things ever. Gacek may meet you with a less-than-enthusiastic stare, but it’s true that the goodboy loves the attention.As per reports, he first came to his current area a decade ago. There was a time when he was in and out of the locality but after a point, he became a permanent resident of the area. He lives in a wooden box outside a shop, and is cared for by the shop owners.
Along with a lot of pets and belly scratches, his visitors tend to give him a lot of treats as well, which may or may not have contributed to his rotund form (we don’t body shame). So now, his caregivers have requested visitors to leave his treats unopened and in a safe box.
