Running parallel to the Oos River and almost through the centre of town is a beautiful stretch of gardens called the Lichtentaler Allee. It is reputed to be over 350 years old and runs for almost 3 km with stunning trees, plants and bushes, massive flower pots and bridges. Both spring and autumn are spectacular while winter has its own charm. Spring is colourful with a profusion of various colours while autumn is incredible with a plethora of yellows, oranges, reds and russets. The river is more of a gently flowing brook with tall trees on both banks that are carpeted with a thick layer of fallen leaves in the same colour spectrum.
