Largest statue of Lord Shiva, Statue of Belief, to get ready by August in Nathdwara

In the ongoing holy month of Shravana or Saawan as some call it, the devotees of the trident-wielding, stoic and compassionate god are going to witness the biggest statue of Lord Shiva in the world.
The construction of this statue took several months, and it was expected to be inaugurated in March 2019. However, for some reason, the deadline got extended. Reportedly, the construction of the statue is due to be completed soon, and will be unveiled to the general public in August. The statue is being made at Ganesh Tekri in Nathdwara, a destination popular for Shrinathji Temple in Rajasthan.


According to news reports, this iconic monument is being constructed with 2,500 tonnes of refined steel. In addition, the statue is being glazed by high-quality copper, and sits serenely atop a zinc-built pedestal. The statue is 351 ft high, and has three galleries for visitors at 20 ft, 110 ft, and 270 ft, which can be accessed by elevators. It has been named as the Statue of Belief. On its completion, the statue will be the fourth largest in the world after Statue of Unity in Gujarat, Spring Temple Buddha in China, and Laykyun Setkyar in Myanmar.

On Twitter, pictures of the Statue of Belief have been doing the rounds that depict the face of the deity painted in red colour, while other limbs are still undone. A statue of Nandi, the celestial bull of Shiva, has also been constructed that stands before Shiva beholding his divine form in reverence and love.
