Kuta was once a sleepy Balinese fishing village but it has now turned into a surfing Mecca and one of the most popular and most famous resorts in all of Bali. Kuta offers a huge choice of hotels, shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs, most of which are good value for budget travellers; however Kuta is also one of the most crowded spots on the island.
Staying in Kuta can be great fun for those looking for a lively atmosphere in the heart of the action but those who are looking for a peaceful, relaxing escape would be better off choosing a more laid back resort elsewhere on the island.
