Kesari movie locations that will take you back in time

Kesari, one of the most anticipated movies of the year, has finally released and doing quite well on the box-office. Based on true events, the movie goes back in time and showcases the events that lead to the Battle of Saragarhi. This battle took place between 21 Sikh soldiers of the Sikh Regiment of the British Army and around 10000 tribesmen from Afghanistan during 1897.
Starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, the movie has been shot across various Indian locations including Jaipur, Mumbai, and primarily in the picturesque Wai, a small town in Satara district of Maharashtra.

The two main forts shown in the movie, namely Gulistan and Saragarhi, were erected in Wai, where the entire war sequence for the movie has been shot. Not only the forts but a temporary set for an Afghan village was also created in Wai.
Some of the major scenes were also filmed at Nawalgarh, a lovely small town in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. Nawalgarh, also known as the Golden Town of Rajasthan has some grand forts and palaces, which are gorgeous beyond words. Scenes featuring Akshay Kumar riding a horse have been filmed inside one of the forts here.

The movie has been touted as one of the best war movies ever made in India, and the shooting locations are of course a big lure for the audience.
