Secretary of Tourism and Culture, Rani George, said that the basic objective behind launching this promotional and marketing campaign is to double the number of foreign tourist arrivals in the state by the year 2021.
Director of Kerala Tourism, P Bala Kiran, revealed that the Kerala tourist places which the board intends to promote are the pristine and unexplored destinations across the state including Bekal, Kannur, Malabar and Wayanad among other places.
The number of tourist arrivals in Kerala has been steady in spite of various major changes in the tourism industry, including the introduction of GST. Between the months of January and September in 2017, the state of Kerala played host to as many as 10,18,986 more new domestic tourists as compared to the figures of the same period in the year 2016.
