Kashi railway station in Varanasi district receives smart makeover

Kashi station in Uttar Pradesh has been renovated to make it look more beautiful and passenger-friendly. The Kashi railway station is located in the eastern suburbs of Varanasi. It is under the Lucknow division of the Northern Railways (NR) zone. According to the latest news reports, the station walls, waiting rooms and the circulating area have been changed. In addition, foot-over-bridges (FOBs) have been installed for the welfare of the passengers.
The Kashi railway station is situated close to the Ganga river bank. The authorities have been about INR 80 lakh to INR 1 crore for revamping the railway station in order to make it more modernised and user-friendly.

The Northern Railways zone has brought about many other changes for the redevelopment of Kashi Railway Station.
The waiting halls and interiors have been fitted with energy-efficient LED lights. The walls of the station now have waterproof and weather-resistant three-dimensional colour coated paint that depicts Varanasi’s rich cultural and spiritual legacy.

The waiting halls have been given stainless steel benches for the people to sit on.
The washrooms of the station have been outfitted with better water booths and water taps.

Reportedly, more such railway stations on the Indian Railways network have undergone redevelopment and beautification for a better travelling experience. The Kokrajhar station in Assam was given a similar makeover by changing its station facade, walls, circulating area and waiting rooms.
