Junior Olympic Sailing Festival to play host to aspiring sailors on Dec 9, 10

This Saturday and Sunday, be ready to attend the Junior Olympic Sailing Festival that is to be held at the U.S. Sailing Center of Martin County. The venue at the Indian Riverside Park in Jensen Beach will play host to approximately 200 attendees in the Junior Olympic Sailing Festival.

The festival is one of the 30 events that happen throughout the length and breadth of the United States in order to inspire aspiring sailors to take pleasure in sailing, imbibe sailing skills, and take up sailing as a profession. The events at the festival will be a mix of fun-filled Olympic-style competition and learning across all levels, from neophyte racers to the ones with Olympic aspirations.

According to news reports, sailors as young as 8 to 18 years old and their families spanning the eastern US will take part in the event, looking ahead to 15- to 20-knot winds on the Indian River Lagoon. Routes for the contest will be fixed between the Stuart and Jensen Beach Causeways. Sailors will be required to content in various classes of boats, such as Optimist, Sunfish, Laser, Byte, O'pen Bic, and Club 420.
The U.S. Sailing Center of Martin County has hosted 6 boating events since October. It will play host to 7 more sailing events aka regattas till March 2018. Last weekend, above 100 contenders sailed in crispy winds in the course of the Laser District 13 championships.


The not-for-profit organisation includes community sailing from Wednesday to Sunday, when no sailing event is lined-up. Membership allows access to a large variety of watercraft. Volunteers are welcome.
