In the spirit of world peace – located in the middle of the Ariana Park, Palais des Nations is the office of European headquarters of the UN. Built during 1930s, the palace contains 34 conference rooms and about 2,800 offices. It is considered an international territory. In the spirit of world peace – located in the middle of the Ariana Park, Palais des Nations is the office of European headquarters of the UN. Built during 1930s, the palace contains 34 conference rooms and about 2,800 offices. It is considered an international territory. One of the most important UN agencies of UN Human Rights Council is located inside the building. The building overlooking Lake Geneva is a symbol of multilateral diplomacy in the world. A monumental sculpture of Broken Chair stands opposite Palais des Nations. A chair with a broken leg is created to symbolise opposition to landmines and cluster bombs. Guided tours of the Palais des Nations takes one through the Hall of Human Rights, the "Concourse," the Assembly Hall, and the Council Chamber. The tour ends with a film presenting activities and objectives of the United Nations. The League of Nations Museum provides insights into the history of UN, and international relations. Walk around the chambers and conference halls which have witnessed some of the most important historical negotiations in the history. You will be thrilled to know that every year around 8000 to 10,000 intergovernmental meetings take place inside various halls and chambers of Palais des Nations.
