Keesaragutta Temple, around 40 km from Hyderabad is a beautiful site, dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and his consorts, namely Bhavani and Sivadurga. For the devotees of Lord Shiva’s ardent devotees, this temple is no less than a heaven.
Not only is the temple gorgeous, but the history and legend attached to it is also quite beautiful. As far as legend goes, the shivalingam here was installed by Lord Rama himself. It is said that Rama did it to atone for his sin of killing Ravana, who was a Brahman by birth. So obviously, this temple is of utmost importance for the followers of Hinduism.
Jain connection
Location
The temple is set in a picturesque location as it is surrounded by lovely hills and verdant greenery. It is a site to behold indeed! Just keep in mind that before planning a visit to this culturally-rich sacred place, the Keesaragutta Temple, remains crazily crowded during weekends and on any of the major Hindu festivals. If you really wish to enjoy the solitude and silence of the place, choose an unimportant day. Because then, only you’ll be able to connect with the natural beauty of the place, temple and yourself.
