Himachal Pradesh in Guinness Book of World Records for preparing 1995 kg of khichdi

Himachal Pradesh recently prepared a record-breaking 1995 kg of khichdi to enter the Guinness Book of World Records. This was prepared at Tattapani in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.
Latest reports suggest that a team of 25 chefs from the Himachal Pradesh Tourism department prepared the said dish in 5 hours, and used 405 kg of rice, 190 kg pulses, 90 kg ghee, 55 kg spices, and 1100 li of water. Referring to this event, Chief Chef Nand Lal Sharma said that his team was elated to break the earlier record of 918.8 kg in this category.

Official adjudicator of Guinness World Records announced that the Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation created a world record by cooking 1995 kg khichdi in a single utensil.
Referring to this record-breaking event, Director of Tourism and Civil Aviation Yunus said that they had to do a lot of planning to create this record-breaking dish and to put Tattapani on the world tourism map. Reportedly, the utensil in which the dish was prepared was brought from Jagadhri in Haryana, which was 7 ft in diameter, and stood 5.5. ft tall.
Also, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur stated that Tattapani has created a record, and that the state government will be honouring the chefs who prepared the dish.

The Chief Minister, while addressing the gathering during the occasion of district-level Makar Sankranti Mela at Tattapani, also added that e-toilet facility and modern cafeteria would be built in this region and that INR 3.50 crore will be infused in this region to develop it as a chief centre for water sports.
