Spread over a sprawling compound, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is a symbol of freedom and pride of the Vietnamese people. If you are in Hanoi, this is a place you should consider visiting, because this is a rare experience of seeing a legendary leader of the Vietnam War era. Uncle Ho, as Ho Chi Minh is commonly known to the people in Hanoi, is embalmed in the Mausoleum since he died on September 2, 1969. When you walk past his glass casket in a single file in an air-conditioned room where his body is preserved, you will find Uncle Ho sleeping peacefully inside the glass casket. Outside, exhibits are displayed that include Ho Chi Minh’s used cars and his modest living quarter; the pond where he used to feed fish every morning is nicely maintained. No one is allowed to photograph the embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh and do not be upset when they ask you to leave the camera before entering the mausoleum. However, photography of the compound and the exhibits is permitted.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
