For the first time in history, the Hajj pilgrims this year will be able to take the service of high-speed rail, which will be made available from Mecca to Medina. Hajj is the holy pilgrimage by Muslims to Saudi Arabia's revered Mecca city.
The railway was introduced last year in the month of October, after the Hajj pilgrimage was done. So this will be the first year of the railways handling the yearly crush of pilgrims. As per reports, nearly 2.37 millions pilgrims made it to Mecca in the year 2018.
The HHR line can manage 60 million passengers a year. Not only this, the latest technology is designed to handle soaring temperatures up to 50°C (122°F), which is also the maximum temperature recorded in Saudi Arabia.
Hajj is one pilgrimage which ever Muslim needs to perform at least once in their lifetime (if physically and financially able).
