Have a close encounter with some of Bali’s exotic wildlife

Bali offers many opportunities for animal lovers to get up-close and personal with the island’s exotic wildlife.
The Bali Safari & Marine Park is one of Bali’s top attractions where you can see hundreds of amazing animals, not just from Bali, but from all over the world, including rare and endangered species like the Orangutan. You can also come close to lions, meerkats, Komodo and porcupines at the Animal Encounter area, and there are live shows and even a night safari. The park is involved in the conservation efforts for many of Bali’s endangered creatures like the cute Bali Mynah bird, Sumatran Elephant, and the Sumatran Tiger.

The Bali Bird Park is home to over 1000 colourful birds from 250 different exotic species from all over the world. A highlight of this park is the large walkthrough aviaries. The Bali Bird Park is home to rare and endangered species like the Cendrawasih (birds of paradise), and the Leucopsar Rothschildi (Bali Starling).
Next door to the Bird Park (and included in the ticket price) is the Rimba Reptile Park which houses over 180 specimens of reptiles and amphibians including crocodiles, flying lizards, iguanas, frogs and geckos. Many venomous snakes and an impressive 1.5 metre Komodo dragon, unique to Indonesia, can be found here.

The Bali Butterfly Park is ‘the largest butterfly park in Asia’, so you shouldn’t miss the nursery where new butterflies are hatched every day.
Turtle lovers might also want to visit the Turtle Conservation and Education Centre. It cares for injured turtles and has turtle hatchery, as well as a breeding programme run with support from World Wildlife Fund (WWF). You can help release a baby turtle into the sea in exchange for a donation to the project.
