Pyramids at Giza are more than 4500 years old. The complex contains 3 pyramids, namely Pyramid of Khufu, Pyramid of Khafre and Pyramid of Menkaure. The Sphinx guards the Valley temple and Pyramid of Khafre. The complex also consists of smaller structures known as Queens’ Pyramids, and pyramids for other family members. Pyramids primarily were mortuary temples, which housed the tombs with remains of the pharaohs along with storage rooms, which contained items believed to be needed in their afterlife. The original pyramids were covered with limestone plaster from outside giving it a smooth finish, which has vanished with times. Take a stroll around the base of the pyramid and try to gaze up to the top of these gigantic monuments. Since almost 4000 years, these were the tallest manmade structures! It transports you into the time and makes you wonder how these monumental structures were built. There are several theories around the construction of these humongous edifices; about how these large stones were transported and stabilised, one on top of the other.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
