Increase in fares
Metro frequency

The frequency of metro trains on both these routes has also been revealed. While the peak hours will have a metro train running on these routes every 10 min, the non-rush hours will have a metro train operating every 20 min on both these routes.
Adding even more hopes to the train frequency on these routes, a source revealed, “There will be a train linking the Central and Alandur every 5 min. But, we can increase the frequency to one every 2.5 min if a lot of people travel”.
As of now, the Chennai Metro Rail witnesses an average of 22,000 to 25,000 commuters on a daily basis. On holidays, this number increases from 30,000 to 33,000.
