Built over the pious waters of river Ganges, Mahatma Gandhi Setu is the bridge that connects Patna in the south to Hajipur in the north of Bihar. Constructed over a period of over 10 years, this bridge holds the distinction of being one of the longest bridges in the country. To be precise, at 5,750 metres in length, it is in fact the second largest bridge in India. It enjoyed the first slot for many years before Dhola Sadiya bridge over the Brahmaputra in Assam gained the title of India’s longest bridge in 2017. Mahatma Gandhi Setu was inaugurated in 1982 by the then Prime Minister of India, Ms Indira Gandhi. A grand bridge in every sense of the term, Mahatma Gandhi Setu is a place of interest in Patna. A prominent city landmark, this bridge is also a part of NH 19. Thanks to this bridge, it is just a matter of few minutes that one can reach north Bihar from Patna.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
