Prague, with all its old-world charm, is a stunning destination for travellers. Among the things to do in Prague, attending an opera concert is high on the list. On that note, the spectacular Prague State Opera is soon going to reopen after completion of its renovation and restoration process.
The renovation has made way for an interesting new addition, according to the spokeswoman of the opera, Eva Sochorova. She said that one of the highlights is the lifting of the curtain. This has been remodelled in line with the original curtain that was created by Eduard Veith. It is a depiction of a travelling poet in armour, who seeks inspiration from human beings, and their vices and virtues. The new curtain has been designed by Martin Cerny, and it weighs about 100 kg.
The Prague State Opera is part of the National Theatre of Czech Republic. It was first opened in 1888 as the New German Theatre; later, it was called Smetana Theatre from 1949 to 1989. It was renamed to Prague State Opera recently. The opera is set to open on January 5, 2020.
