Sai Baba of Shirdi, the great 19th century saint, now has an impressive shrine in south India too. Shirdi Sai Baba Temple in south India, known as Akkaraipatti Sai Baba temple complex, was consecrated close to Samayapuram in Tamil Nadu on Monday.
Called as the Shirdi of South India, the Akkaraipatti Sai Baba temple is spread over an area of 35000 sq ft. While the ground floor of the shrine has a magnanimous idol of the saint, the temple basement will be used for yoga and meditation practices. On the first floor, ample space has been provided for the devotees to watch the pujas and religious events happening on the ground floor.
The consecration ceremony began at 7 AM, and around 9:30 AM, the temple kalash located at a height of 100 feet was installed amid holy chants by the priests. The temple is located about 4 km from the Samayapuram toll plaza on the Chennai-Trichy national highway.
Shirdi Sai Baba is one of the most revered saints and people from all walks of life in India and abroad worship him till date. There are a number of Sai Baba shrines across India where due worship is performed on a daily basis.
