It may be famous for a few things, including the golfing and the university where Prince William studied but this town has a lot more to offer than that and is the perfect weekend getaway from Edinburgh. Let’s first talk about the obvious—this town is known worldwide as the home of golf. The most famous golf course here is the Old Course and golfers take delight in playing on the same course as some of the world’s best golfers have played here. There are eight championship courses throughout the island. Visitors here flock to the medieval centre of the town where cobbled streets boast of shops and restaurants as well as the church of St Regulus. We suggest climbing the staircase in the church to get great views of the town. St Andrews University is also found in the centre of town and is one of the top universities in Britain. Stunning architecture, ivy clad walls and a slew of famous graduates make this a worthy photo stop. Along with all these greatness, this town is also known for a couple of great beaches, beautiful gardens, theatres, an aquarium and more.
