This river and the valleys and gorges it has created come from the melted run off from Everest's glaciers. The Dudh Kosi region is mountainous, carved through with great chasms and ravines topped by snowy peaks, some of the tallest in the world. At some sections along its journey, the river is narrow and the walls on either side like a deep trench, and at others the valleys are wide and flat, more like a scoop than a v-shape. There are several dramatic river crossings and suspension bridges on the trekking routes around the region.
