Draupadi was dragged into the assembly and subjected to public humiliation.


According to legend, Draupadi cursed the Chambal River after the infamous dice game between the Pandavas and Kauravas. In her anger, she declared that the river would forever bear witness to her disgrace, and that anyone who drank from its waters would be consumed by an insatiable thirst for vengeance. This curse is believed to have kept people away from the river for centuries, helping it remain untouched and unpolluted.


The curse of Draupadi became a part of the region’s oral history, and over time, the Chambal River grew to be seen as a place of foreboding. Unlike other rivers in India that are venerated and have numerous temples along their banks, Chambal remained shunned by pilgrims.
