Daman attracts massive number of tourists from neighbouring states of Gujarat and Maharashtra during weekends. Mumbai is a mere 190 km away and Daman is a perfect family destination for those who are looking for more peaceful beaches. About 3 km from Nani Daman is Devka beach on the outskirts of the main city. The atmosphere is serene and easy going with moderate number of tourists and few beach facing hotels and resorts. I took a brief walk in evening with waves dancing on my toes, and my moods changing and mirroring every colour induced by the sunset. Few tourists also went further down to collect shells and take a brief swim in the sea but I refrained from it. I am restricted to a swimming pool only, and swimming in sea may not be my cup of tea.Jampore beach lies approximately 3 km south of Moti Daman. You can either drive or take an auto rickshaw for Rs 40. The fine granular and golden sand of Jampore beach is bliss to walk on. Take an occasional horse ride that is available or go further into the sea during low tide. Ask a local for the lesser known fisherman’s beach if you have more time to spend in Daman exploring beaches.
