A regal building almost halfway down Krakowskie Przedmieście and just opposite Warsaw University, the Czapski Palace is an ornate Rococo building. It is now the home of Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. Built in the late 17th century, the building changed owners many times and was home to many illustrious names. Prominent among them was Frederic Chopin who stayed here as a child up until he went into exile. Recognising this, the second-floor road-facing room in the south annexe of the palace has been made into a museum and designated as the Chopin Family Parlour. The interiors have been reconstructed from paintings to resemble what it would have been like in the mid-19th century. It also has a collection of memorabilia of the composer.
