Naggar (Rumsu) to Malana via the Chanderkhani Pass (also Chandrakani Pass) This trek is the traditional way of reaching the mysterious village of Malana before the road to Malana was built. The trek is a 2-3 day affair and involves crossing over from the Kullu Valley into Parvati valley via the 3650 m Chanderkhani Pass. It is a fairly easy trek on the difficulty scale and is fit for beginners. The best time for this trek is from May to October. It is better to have a guide and essential supplies because the trail is confusing in many places. The trail leads through the village of Rumsu and then winds through wonderful meadows and old forests to a pasture above the tree line. The Chandrakani Pass has some fine views of the Kullu valley to the mountains of Lahaul and as Malana comes closer it provides jaw-dropping views of the Deo Tibba & Parvati ranges. The descent from Chanderkhani Pass to Malana village can easily be completed in one day.
This trek is a fine way to arrive in Parvati Valley and experience the customs and beauty of Malana first hand. Trails to Jari and Kasol diverge while descending and that is where the guide comes in handy.
