Visit the Spanish colonial city of Ecuador. Cuenca can be called the 'Macchu Picchu' of Ecuador. It is home to another UNESCO world heritage site called Ingapirca. The Inca ruins consist of Temple of the Sun, and remains of what would have been labyrinthine complexes in that era. The Ingapirca is roughly two hours away from the center of Cuenca. Read less

The Inca ruins consist of Temple of the Sun, and remains of what would have been labyrinthine complexes in that era. The Ingapirca is roughly two hours away from the center of Cuenca. Cuenca is also home to numerous cathedrals, museums and parks. The feel of the town if very laid back, quaint and the excellent weather adds to the overall charm of seclusion. Try to stay back here one night to make the most of the retreat.
