Cambodia is known for its ancient temples, red dusty roads and endless rice paddies. Its beaches, however, are lesser known. As one of the South East Asia’s best-hidden secrets (for now at least!), the Cambodian coast is perfect for those looking for a quiet getaway of white sandy beaches, blue water and wild, and deserted tropical islands. Sharing the Gulf of Thailand with many of the east Thailand’s famous islands, the Cambodian coast has a lot to offer. You can reach many Cambodian beaches via bus or private taxi from Phnom Penh. With the growing tourism industry in Cambodia, travel agents are becoming more and more equipped in supporting travellers to traverse even from more remote spots. The best time to visit most of these spots is in the dry, cooler season of December, January and February when the sun isn’t so scorching. That said, other times of the year are fine too—even the dramatic monsoon season! Like many SE Asian beaches, the nights are hot and the beers are cold—ideal for escaping the hustle and bustle of the city. Now is the time to explore these gorgeous coastal getaways before the rest of the world finds out about them!
