Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal recently launched the Asom Darshan scheme in a bid to promote the state’s historical and spiritual heritage. Latest reports state that this scheme aims to develop religious places of all faiths. While launching the scheme, the Chief Minister stated that as per his government’s promise to promote and preserve Assam’s spiritual and historical heritage, they have now identified 915 religious institutions for infrastructure development, and that a total of INR 710 crore will be infused for the same.
He further added that the scheme would conserve, protect, and develop Assam’s religious sites and tourist hotspots, which are popular not only because of their beauty and historic importance, but are also as icons of the state.
Further, to ensure that the visitors have a seamless and pleasant experience, a budget of INR 10 lakh will be given to each tourist destination under the scheme of Asom Darshan. The said scheme would be implemented by the Deputy Commissioners of respective districts under the Transformation and Development department.
