Udupi becomes the first of its kind in Karnataka to start heli tourism

The illustrious and ancient city of Udupi has now added another tourist-friendly facility to its kitty. Henceforth, people interested in exploring the beautiful city and its outskirts can do so in a helicopter. According to the news reports, a three-day heli-tour programme at Udupi was inaugurated by the local MLA Raghupathi Bhat on Friday, January 11, 2019.
The objective behind launching this event is to promote tourism in the city known for its marvellous architecture and structures. Reportedly, the helicopter tourism will be conducted in Kundapur; it will feature rides through Udupi, St. Mary’s, Hoode, Malpe fisheries port, Manipal and the nearby locations. The ride is valid for 6 passengers per trip. While, the jolly ride costs INR 2,500, the adventure ride is worth INR 3,000.

Sudesh Shetty, Mantra Toursim Development, told the press that the future plan is to make helicopter tourism a permanent feature in Udupi. The authorities want to even extend it to medical tourism as well as religious tourism for accessing the temple shrines in the city.
According to MLA Raghupathi Bhat, helicopter tourism aka heli tourism will help in generating revenue as the coast of Udupi has several touristy sites. One of the best places to visit in Udupi is the 13th century Shri Krishna Temple.
